Right next to the town hall is the Prehistoric Man Museum, which you can visit on a tour.
You can see the Steinheim Prehistoric Man (Homo steinheimensis).
On July 24, 1933, Karl Sigrist discovered a human skull in his father's gravel pit. It was about 8 meters deep in the ground. According to the deposits, the skull dates back to the Holstein Warm Period. It was washed here around 320,000 years ago - probably by flooding. There is no trace of the skeleton that went with it.
