Location: Laa an der Thaya, Bezirk Mistelbach, Weinviertel, Lower Austria, Austria
An imposing structure of stone walls with a churning tower and a low square tower served mainly to supply and secure the weir. The castle was built in the 13th century. In 1564, almost the entire city and parts of the fortifications and also the castle were cremated by a conflagration. Around 1786, the castle was privately owned. In 2007 Laa Castle was bought by the municipality of Laa.

Old town hall preserved.Laa Castle on the Thaya: The Laa Castle initially served as the last place of retreat surrounded by a moat in the event of threats and not as a residential castle. Later the typical city-side butter barrel tower was built (after 1400), and finally residential and utility rooms.
