    Located in the middle of the Charente, between the comic strip museum and the town center, this island however looks like a small jungle.

    It is possible to walk up to 2 km in the middle of lush vegetation, without crossing a car or bicycle (except irreducible: the paths are quite narrow).

    Although showing some vestiges of an industrial activity long gone, the place is now classified Natura 2000. It is notably inaccessible during the nesting period: from December 31 to April 15. The rest of the time, it remains quite wild; if an interpretive route gives some keys to understanding, there are only very few facilities (overflowing vegetation on the paths, no stairs, unsecured banks, etc.)
