The Jan Hop is part of the "ferry route Alkmaarder - and Uitgeestermeer" and is well visited, especially on weekends. To encourage commuting by bike, the Jan hop also sails on Monday to Friday.
But for now this is only in the period from April to October. The exploitation is provided by Blue Amigo, a company that has extensive experience with nautical services. Both ticket sales (including debit card payment) and maintenance are provided by Blue Amigo. The Jan Hop
This ferry is named after the legendary ferryman Jan Hop who, from 1911, took care of the crossings in his rowing boat. After all, Jan Hop was popular with the children because he could let birds eat from his hand.He always had some chicken feed in his pocket!
If the parents of these children had known that Jan Hop had never learned to swim and that he absolutely couldn't,
then...Fortunately it has always gone well. The current ferry was put into service in 1984.
