The Marian patronage comes from the original pilgrimage church on the Oberleiser Berg plateau, which had to be demolished in 1787 by order of Emperor Joseph II, and was transferred to the existing parish church of St. Mauritius.
The statue of grace on the pillar in the middle of the apse is also from the original pilgrimage church on the hill.
