Falkenberg Castle is one of the castles in the Stiftland with the earliest documentary mention. Due to its location on a rock spur high above the Waldnaab, it gives the impression of impregnability when viewed from the Naab side. As the ideal type of an intact castle, it is almost not missing in any tourist brochure and is shown in many Upper Palatinate books.
