Kloster Arnsburg was founded in 1174 by the Cistercian monks. Was released after demolition of the Order in 1803 at short notice for demolition. Received today as an impressive ruin with the support of the Circle of Friends. In the courtyard
a war graves cemetery has found a worthy place. A real gem in Central Hesse with well-kept restaurants in the Landhaus Klosterwald or the old monastery mill

Especially ideal for resting, as there are benches, trash can and a shady spot. The information boards provide interesting historical facts.

There is also a highlight, great walls, great history and a restaurant. Worth at least one trip, rather more ...

Many historical sites in the immediate vicinity, from the Röner period to modern times, everything is there: the Roman fort (ancient), the castle (medieval) and the abandoned railway line (modern).

Unfortunately there are only a few foundation walls left. What the castle once looked like can therefore be seen from the information board.

Uncovered and z. Foundations, some of which are bricked up, show the location of Arnsburg Castle, which was abandoned in the 12th century.

Arnsburg Castle is the ruin of a spur castle at 170 m above sea level. NN not far from Arnsburg Monastery. The castle, built around 1000, was the ancestral seat of the Reichsministeriale von Hagen and Arnsburg in the Wetterau, who called themselves von Münzenberg from 1151. From 1984 to 1985 the foundation walls of the castle were excavated
