The Dingesee is the remote lake in the Wetterau Lake District and is therefore not so well known and “besieged”…
There are two parking spaces on the side facing the main street - Trais Horloff / Bellersheim.
The lake cannot be circumnavigated by bike, but it is ideal for hiking...

      Nice viewpoint on the lake!
With the development of the opencast mine between Wohnbach and Bellersheim, large bucket-wheel and bucket-chain excavators found their way into the northern Wetterau. From 1961 to 1975, 10.5 million tons of lignite were mined between the A45 motorway and the Hungen district of Bellersheim. What was left of this was the Barbarasee in the east of the Hungen district of Bellersheim, which is officially known as "Sachsensee". The name "Barbarasee" comes from the patron saint of miners - the "Saint Barbara" - and has become naturalized in the population.

Old coal mining area which was abandoned when yield ran out. At that time with its own railway connection. Similar to Lake Wölfersheim, the area was converted into a lake after mining.
