The Diedrichsburg is one of the main attractions in the Meller Berg. Various well-developed paths lead here, which can be easily ridden with an off-road e-bike. There is a restaurant at the castle. The tower of the Diedrichsburg, along with the towers on the Ottoshöhe and Friedenshöhe, are the main attractions of the Three Towers Trail.

Today's Diedrichsburg was built on the remains of a medieval castle complex of the same name, the history of which is little documented. The namesake is probably Count Diedrich, great-grandson of the well-known Duke of Saxony Widukind (Wittekind) and father of Saint Mathilde, wife of the first German king Heinrich I and mother of the German king, later Emperor Otto I (the Great). Mathilde is said to have been born in 892 at Diedrichsburg. It is historically proven that the richly wealthy descendants of Duke Widukind had their headquarters in Diedrichsburg.

The Diedrichsburg on the highest elevation of the Melle mountains (220 m above sea level) is truly the summit in the geographical center of the large urban area of Melle. The Diedrichsburg is a castle complex with a four-storey, crenellated keep (26 m high), flanked by two single-storey side wings. There is a viewing platform on the keep: the places and sights that can be seen from there are indicated with information signs. The steep climb up the stairs is definitely worth it!🌞
