August-Wilhelm-Mende Park

An interesting ride through the park is possible

August-Wilhelm Mende (1929–1986) was a member of the state parliament and mayor of Bebra. Between 1966 and 1984 he directed the fortunes of the railway town. A school and this green area with mighty willows, a small pond, various paths and seating are named after him. Unfortunately, the pond has been fenced in since August 2020 due to legal protection in the event of possible accidents - a redesign is pending as part of the urban renewal. Located on the outskirts of the city center, the park can be easily reached on foot or by bike along the Bebra brook, past the outdoor pool. Cycling is not permitted in the park, but there is a cycle path right above it.

Cycling is now allowed in the park 👍, and the curb at the upper entrance has even been lowered.
