Punta Aderci Nature Reserve Trail

The enchanting Punta Aderci Nature Reserve, the first coastal protected area in Abruzzo, offers a unique setting that extends for approximately 285 hectares (and 400 with the external protection area). From Punta Penna, near the port of Vasto (Punta della Lotta), to the mouth of the Sinello river on the border with Casalbordino, this reserve is a perfect fusion between natural beauty and tourist accessibility. A coastal gem that celebrates biodiversity and invites you to discover breathtaking landscapes along the Abruzzo coast.

The Marine Nature Reserve of Punta Aderci is called in this way and derives from "Punta d'Erce" because the locals believed in ancient times that here were the Pillars of Hercules, the point where the known world ended and beyond which there was the unknown.
The marine reserve is made up of a maritime panorama that immediately catches the eye of the visitor who appreciates the beautiful seaside places and there is a 7km completely unpaved nature trail that starts from the entrance of the visitor center up to the Poker hotel in Casalbordino Lido, accessible on foot, by bicycle and on horseback.
Please be extremely careful in this area as it is populated by a large number of wild boars which for several years have currently settled in the areas of the beaches of Mottagrossa and Torre Sinello, so as soon as you spot the mother with the young behind her, stay at a distance in the order of 80-100 meters or even more, do not attempt to approach in the slightest or the female could sense a danger for her young and would immediately charge at you.
For the rest it is an enchanting place where you can spend unforgettable moments together with your family and friends.

It is located along the "Costa dei Trabocchi" cycle path but it is a dirt road that is also challenging at times... for Sunday customers.
