A grave on the Höhenweg in the Heiligenzeller Forest commemorates the deaths of three soldiers who lost their lives there in the last days of the war on April 17, 1945. The three Volkssturm men from Rheinfelden near the Swiss border had left their troops and wanted to go home to their families. According to current knowledge, they were shot by members of the SS.
