The steep final ascent is worth it - very nice panoramic view
The place was first mentioned in 1486 as Pelayenberg. A chapel has stood on a prominent hill in Gottshaus since the late Middle Ages. After an extension, the auxiliary bishop of Konstanz, Daniel Zehnder, consecrated an altar of Mary in 1487. After the Reformation, the chapel was owned by the Evangelicals, who taught children there until 1630. The Canons of Bischofszell initiated recatholicization in 1663, created the place of pilgrimage and incorporated the chapel into their monastery in 1726.
