Since 2001, the KoNaRo - Competence Center for Renewable Resources has functioned as the umbrella for three institutions, the so-called pillars, which work together in Straubing on the future topic of "Renewable Resources". A total of around 400 employees work here and work together successfully across different disciplines to advance climate protection, the energy transition and the change in raw materials. Today, the KoNaRo is a central contact point for these important topics in Bavaria, Germany and worldwide. A comprehensive range of information with lectures, guided tours, exhibitions, publications and events ensures that the knowledge from research and practice also benefits the population. Further expansion of the forward-looking research and consulting facility is planned for the coming years.
    Our three pillars:
    • The TUM – Campus Straubing for Biotechnology and Sustainability (TUMCS) is primarily concerned with basic research and teaching. In addition to the energetic and material use of biomass, economic aspects are also examined at the TUM Campus Straubing. (cs.tum.de)
    • The Technology and Promotion Center (TFZ) is a research facility of the Bavarian Ministry of Agriculture. With applied research, funding and knowledge transfer, the TFZ advances the energy and raw material transition. (tfz.bayern.de)
    • C.A.R.M.E.N. e.V. is particularly involved in public relations, consulting and project assessment. In addition to the material and energetic use of biomass, the employees also deal with other renewable energies and with questions of savings and efficiency. (carmen-ev.de)
