Treporti Fort built between 1845 and 1851
In the direction of Lio Grando is Fort Treporti, better known here as Fort Vecchio. Built on the remains of a small French fort, it was built by the Austrians in the second half of the 19th century. Built in the late 19th century (1845-1851) to watch over the lagoon area and the mouth of the port of Punta Sabbioni. Being quite a distance from Venice, it was equipped with adequate anti-landing protection directly on the sea front, but it also had passive defensive artillery facing the Venetian Lagoon. The main front on the western side, facing the lagoon, has two entrances: one faces a back area, while the larger and more important entrance, which had a portal and originally a drawbridge, faces an inner courtyard. During the First World War, two telemetric towers were built, one cylindrical and one square, designed to spot the enemy and calculate the direction of fire. Today, Fort Treporti is partially inhabited and several sports and cultural associations have their headquarters in its premises.

Former bunkers and ruins from the path wheel between the lighthouse and the port of Punta SAbbioni. Blocked in places due to danger of collapse.

Locally the Fort is better known as Forte Vecchio. Built on the remains of a pre-existing French fort, it was built by the Austrians in the second half of the nineteenth century (1845 - 1851) in order to control the lagoon area and the mouth of the port of Punta Sabbioni. Being placed at a safe distance from Venice, it was equipped with adequate anti-ship armament placed on the sea front, but it also had passive defense artillery towards the Venice lagoon. The main front on the west side facing the lagoon has two entrances: one facing a service field and the other, larger and more relevant because it has a portal and originally a drawbridge, facing an internal courtyard. During the Great War, two telemetry towers were built, one with a cylindrical base and the other with a quadrangular base, intended to sight the enemy and calculate the direction of the shot. Today Forte Treporti is partially inhabited and some sporting and cultural associations have found their headquarters in its premises.
