Earl of Limburg Stirum (1877-1931) had commissioned the construction of this cellar at the beginning of the 20th century. He was married to Maria de Blocq van Scheltinga in 1901 and lived from 1910 on "Oranjewoud", the country estate, which she had inherited.
The count, died aged 54 in 1931 and was buried in the family crypt at Brongerga. The Countess died in 1942 at the age of 63.translated by
