The market square with the listed Marian column is well worth a visit. The Marian column probably goes back to Lukas Rauffer, the castle administrator at the time. At the insistence of the citizens of Stamsried, he had a bowling alley here demolished and the current group of figures set up. In 1729 the stone honorary column of the "Immaculate Conception" was erected. In 1735 the life-size figures of St. Florian, St. Sebastian, Johannes Baptist and Johannes Nepomuk and the stone balustrade were added.
