The cemetery of the Jewish community of Höchberg was laid out in 1821. The municipality had been able to purchase the property the year before. The first burial from Höchberg was that of Sophie Rhein (born 1791) on March 21, 1824. The first burial from Würzburg was that of the district rabbi Abraham Bing (1752-1841). As early as 1840, Rabbi Bing s.A. as his deputy (and later successor) the famous rabbi Seligmann Bär Bamberger s.A., known as Würzburger Raw. On the 2nd day Sukkot 5639/1878 the Würzburger Raw died and was buried in the cemetery. In the decades to come, the cemetery was the preferred burial place of the Würzburg rabbis and teachers at Jewish schools as well as the Jews who lived according to strict religious regulations.

Quieter, like most Jewish cemeteries, closed.

      Understandable, but still a shame.
