The castle was built in the 11th century as a tower hill castle (Motte). In the Middle Ages, the fortification was expanded into a moated castle with a front and core castle. In 1560, under Ludwig von Blankart, it was converted into a Renaissance facility.

Odenhausen Castle is a moated castle at a high altitude, where the moats that still exist today were fed by springs. The castle was first mentioned in documents in 1316 and for a long time was a fiefdom held by the lords of Odenhausen from the Siegburg Abbey of Michaelsberg.

A bridge leads over the outer moat through a baroque gate into the farmyard, from which another bridge leads over the moat to the two-winged manor house. The portal is decorated with a coat of arms. On the main front, a pavilion-like extension carries a two-storey bay window with late Gothic tracery, and there is a volute gable on each side above the upper row of windows.

The castle has been owned by the Vieten couple since 2005 and is also inhabited by them and their three children.
