Albert Jan Bledenstein lived from 1829 to 1896. He bought this area, then an open moorland, in 1850 as a hunting ground from a number of farmers. With the advent of fertilizer around 1850, heather sods were no longer needed for fertilization. The farmers no longer needed the area.

Blijdestein was chairman of both the Heidemaatschappij and the Chamber of Commerce. Because he was so attached to the area, he was buried here in a family grave after his death. Besides a few relatives, a dog is also buried in a small grave in the front right.
