The nature reserve, marked NSG BR 055, is 18 hectares in size. It is largely part of the FFH area "Bergwiesen and Wolfsbachtal near Hohegeiss".
The nature reserve consists of three sub-areas that lie within the Harz Nature Park. Two of the sub-areas are north of Hohegeiss on the federal highway 4 and one is south of Hohegeiss on the Lampertsberg.
