The Schindelberg near Kirchsee is an inconspicuous elevation in the middle of the deep Zeller forest. But primeval history blows here. The mountain is the largest terminal moraine elevation east of the Ammer and dates from the last ice age, when the glacier brought boulders from the central Alps and deposited them here. Many of these boulders can be found in the forest. The path from Kirchsee through the Zeller Forest to Habichau is partly badly damaged due to the wood processing after the storm damage and is difficult to drive on. Deep forest and beautiful clearings alternate.
