    Description
In the early morning twilight of December 16, 1944, 18 men of the 394 Rgt for Intelligence and Espionage Resistance were selected. They will be the eyes and ears of the Regimant. They took position in the trenches and gun pits to the north-west of Lanzerath. By 0530 Hr. in the early morning, they were awakened by massive Artillery fire. For several hours they blocked the German fall chem jumpers of the 9 Rgt.

The American soldiers are out of ammunition. They were captured and taken to Lanzerath.

By 2300 Hrs. a German officer arrives at the guest house where Lt. L. Bouck and his men. It is the SS Colonel Jochen Peiper who wants to know why you had lost a full day... He does not know that the young US Lt with his 15 Americans had resisted the German attack and had stopped.

The next day the prisoners had to march to Stadkyll. From there they were transported by train to the prison camp in Hammelburg. SS Lieutenant Peiper did not discover the true facts until much later.

A memento of the battle that took place here on 18 December 1944, when 18 Allied soldiers managed to stop a German regiment of 500 soldiers in their Ardennes Offensive.
