There are just very few signs along the 2,650 mile long Pacific Crest Trail that show the mileage to Canada and Mexico. There is one at Highway 89 that makes it obvious: Canada is (now) closer than Mexico. Be careful when crossing the highway. It is busy.

This highway crossing is a trailhead or bailout option for resupply e.g. in Burney, though most hikers at this stage just continue another couple of miles to the Burney Falls State Park which has a good camp store, showers, laundry, and visitors center.
