Nagelfluh is the name of a special type of rock that is mainly found on the edge of the Alps. It consists of river pebbles that have been baked into a conglomerate. It is therefore made up of many individual stones. The Nagelfluh rock looks as if nails had been hammered so deep into the rock that only their heads are sticking out.
