Is the hike to the Rubihorn worth it?The 1,957 meter high Rubihorn is located east of Oberstdorf in the Allgäu Alps. Just like the Nebelhorn, it belongs to the Daumen group. A few years ago, in 1987, there was a large rockfall. Between 10,000 and 15,000 m³ of rock broke off and thundered towards the valley. The extent of the rockfall is still clearly visible today. The hike to the rugged summit of the Rubihorn is a popular, moderately difficult mountain tour. To reach the highest point, you have to overcome over 1,000 meters in altitude, past watercourses, alpine meadows and the Lower Gaisalpsee. You should plan on five hours in total for the hike.
