The chair symbolizes the enormous height of the ice to the last ice age in this area, about 15,000 years ago. At the point of the chair, the ice was then about 100 meters high. These ice sheets of the Würm ice age are also responsible for the hilly landscape of Upper Swabia, which is characterized by many glacial lakes. The melting water also formed the many waters on the Blitzenreuter Seenplatte
