H.M. Queen Sonja's Panoramic Hiking Trail, known as "Dronningstien," is a renowned 16-kilometer route in Norway's Hardanger region, connecting Kinsarvik and Lofthus. The trail ascends approximately 1,100 meters, offering hikers breathtaking views of Sørfjorden, the Folgefonna Glacier, and lush orchards. Typically completed in 6 to 9 hours, the path crosses diverse terrains, from dense forests to high mountains, and includes the historic Monk Steps as you descend into Lofthus. The trail is best hiked from late June to mid-September, with markers featuring blue "D" letters indicating the route. A shuttle bus service is available between the trailheads for convenience.
