Beautiful stretch of quiet, remote road that follows the course of the River Coquet. To the south is the military area of The Otterburn Ranges, used for miliary training with live ammunition and artilliary. The first stretch of the road is open access but beyond the signposted area at Fulhope, it's military land and you will need to check whether firing is taking place to continue, but even as an out and back ride it's still stunning.
The road is very remote and there's no phone signal at all so make sure you have everything you need with you in case of a mechanical.
If the red flags are up there's no entry. You can check the firing times in advance here: gov.uk/government/publications/otterburn-firing-times

Lovely place to ride but the roads (June '25) are pretty ropey in places. looks like some resurfacing may be lined up

Better suited to gravel bikes or road bike with wider tyres. Can be a little rough and ready!
