Erratic boulder that emerges from the waters of Lake Maggiore or is located on the beach of the same name depending on the level of the lake.
The boulder is easily accessible and well signposted.
In the area there are also other erratic boulders that have been transported by the movement of the ice.

Sasso Cavallazzo/Sass Cavalasc is one of the many erratic boulders found in the area between Ranco, Angera, Sesto Calende and Ispra. It is a gigantic oblique table with sharp edges measuring 5x8 m in the aerial part. It was first described by the 19th century geologist, paleontologist, Antonio Stoppani. The name is due to the curious shape of the boulder, which vaguely resembles that of an equine head.
