Above the entrance to the Herrentunnel there is a hill on the Herreninsel that towers above the entire area and from which you have a beautiful all-round view. Depending on the vegetation period, the view towards the Trave is restricted, but the view towards the Herrentunnel entrance is free at all times.
Conveniently, a single trail leads over the hill. The easiest way is to drive up at the southern end and enjoy the small, twisted descent in the north. Just not necessarily during the main vegetation period - it can get tight (and thorny😜) there between the sea buckthorn. Otherwise the hill along the way is rather sparsely overgrown but still very beautiful.

As always (at least for me) a tip that is worth pursuing, if from such a qualified mouth. I would never have thought of driving around the tunnel "on the roof", but it's quite funny ... And yes, the restrictions with the view unfortunately have to be confirmed (Sep 2021). Maybe roll up here again in winter ... !!
