Winnerod is the smallest district in the municipality of Reiskirchen.
Archaeological finds, however, suggest a settlement as early as the Bronze Age. The oldest known written mention of Winnerod took place in 1252 under the name Winderode in the document book of the Arnsburg monastery. The church in Winnerod dates back to the 12th century and consists of a late Romanesque long nave and a Romanesque-Gothic choir.
