The town hall, completed in 1559, is still the focus of public life. Its mighty tower, which should be understood as a deliberate counterpart to the church tower, and its imposing rows of arcades on the east and south sides, shaped by the spirit of the Renaissance, make it the second landmark of our market. At the south-east corner of the town hall there is a five meter high pillory, one of the most impressive legal historical monuments in Lower Austria. It was erected in 1563 (year engraved) as the successor to a much simpler pillory.
