A layer of peat up to four meters thick had formed in the Zadlitzbruch over several thousand years and was dug in the 19th and early 20th centuries. This is how the fracture that is before you today came about. Due to the inaccessibility, specially adapted animals and plants could settle here. You will find here, for example, the sundew, a carnivorous plant or large areas of cotton grass in summer. And butterflies everywhere! Over 350 species are said to live in this paradise.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. The hiking trails listed are overgrown and no longer accessible. It's a real shame if you drive there especially.
