Wellington's Monument is dedicated to Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, who led Britain to victory against Napoleon in the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. The monument was erected in 1866 and occupies a picturesque spot on Baslow Edge, surrounded by moorland and woodland.

        March 28, 2024

Wellington's Monument location is actually "Blackstone Edge".

While not named as such on OS maps, it can be found on older maps and is shown on a Peak & Northern Footpaths direction signpost below Baslow Edge.

Doesn't stop it being a great area for walks though! 👍
