The "Albaumer Klippen", a 750 m long rocky ridge, designated as a nature sanctuary, is probably the most impressive testimony of the Lower Devonian around 480 million years ago. The huge rocks are made of quartz keratophyr, a reddish rock that originates from the magma of the volcanoes, which played a special role in the regional building culture for a long time. Their appearance did not reach the cliffs until the Ice Age. By frost blasting emerged at the foot of the cliffs up to 50 m wide block piles, partly rocky out of rock blocks, partly from head-sized boulders. On the cliffs and block heaps there is a unique moss, fern and lichen vegetation, so they must not be entered. This trail leads directly to the reserve and provides insights into this unusual natural heritage.
