Dr. Fetten from the Dülken wood building materials works developed the Type 49 home, a house whose large heat and sound insulating elements can be prefabricated and assembled on site. The houses can therefore be built quickly and inexpensively. The price (approx. 9,000 DM) corresponds to the meager budget of those looking for housing and the limited financial resources of the municipalities. At the meeting of the building and property committee on August 30, 1949, the construction of 9 "Fetten houses" was decided. The press took a keen interest in the construction of the prefabricated houses. It praised the short and tight construction time and their cost-effectiveness. The individual construction phases were documented in the press releases. The houses are unusual examples of how to solve the housing shortage in the post-war period
