Very beautiful memorial. It's great to see the Rosinenbomber up close.

A must for fans of historic aircraft. Spotter Point Airport is just around the corner.

The Airlift Memorial (also derisively known as the "Hungerrake") refers to three sculptures in Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, and Celle, designed by Eduard Ludwig (1906–1960), which are intended to commemorate the Berlin Airlift and its victims.
The Berlin Memorial was originally planned as a single piece. Corresponding duplicates of the Berlin sculpture were created in 1985 at the former Rhein-Main Air Base on the grounds of Frankfurt Airport and – in a slightly smaller version – at the former Royal Air Force Station Celle – now Celle Army Airfield. The first Airlift Memorial was erected in 1951 in Berlin at the Platz der Luftbrücke, directly in front of Tempelhof Airport. In Berlin, it is also popularly known as the Hungerrake or Hungerkralle.
When the airport closed at the end of October 2008, the last two takeoffs were reserved for a Douglas DC-3 and a Junkers Ju 52/3m "Berlin-Tempelhof" of Deutsche Lufthansa due to the airport's history of the Berlin Airlift. 🚴‍
