The fog horn house located in Emmeloord (Schokland) has become known as "De Misthoorn". In fact, it is a misleading name, because it is only an empty building. There is no trace of a foghorn. Little is known about what exactly was in the building. It dates from 1921 when radar and GPS were still unknown and Schokland was still surrounded by water. The building is now part of the Schokland World Heritage Site.
