Saltram House was built in 1743 on the site of an earlier mansion. The garden is mostly 19th century with a wonderful 18th century orangery.

The house and gardens are National Trust and paid entry to non-members. You can follow the footpath around the estate without paying entry.

Devon's ocean city hides this extraordinary house and grounds on its eastern edge. Saltram is now under the care of the National Trust and is a magnificent Grade I-listed house. Of early Georgian design, it's considered one of the best examples of such in the country and is open to the public throughout the year so it's easy to admire it.

The vast grounds are lovely for walking and it occupies a waterside position on the River Plym. Seek out its orangery, amphitheatre and woodlands for a real treat.
