The origin of the landmark of our community is presumed around 1600, when the Hohenau Castle lost its importance and the tower was used as a lookout and its bell to warn in the event of fire or enemy danger. In 1711 the tower was rebuilt. From old municipal calculations it can be concluded that the bell was protected by a roof and that a clock was also criticized at that time. Statues of Saints Martin, Sebastian, Florian and John are housed in the niches of the tower.The carillon was created in valuable craftsmanship by Mr. Karl Bauer and uses 13 bells from 2.5 to 48 kg to sound the "Hohenauer Heimatlied" via an electromechanical switch mechanism - a rarity!Info: Hohenau.at
