Bovec (Italian Plezzo, German: Flitsch) is a town and the center of the municipality of Bovec.

The settlement lies below the southern slope of Rombon, on the highest Soča terrace, at the northern edge of the Bovec basin. In addition to Rombon, the basin is surrounded on the south by Polovnik, on the east by Javoršček, and on the northeast by Svinjak and the high mountain karst mountain range Kanin or the Kanin mountain range.

Between Javoršček and Svinjak, the river Soča flows into the basin, and between Svinjak and Rombon, the river Koritnica. To the south of Bovec flows the periodic stream Gereš, and to the west the Globoki stream. Both flow into the Glijun stream, which is a right tributary of the Soča.
