The fascinating stone architecture of 150 years ago is documented in the grandiose viaduct structure (built from 1862 to 1864), the Greener Viaduct, which was built as part of the first railway line of the Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg via Kreiensen to the westernmost tip of the territory on the Weser. The line was opened on October 10, 1865. The Duchy of Brunswick commissioned the railway and tunnel builder Franz von Rziha. With a total height of 31 meters, the structure spans the Luhe valley and the federal highway 64 over a length of around 97 meters. The bridge structure is a block structure made of Selter dolomite stone with eight semicircular vaults of equal size. The imposing viaduct, which shapes the landscape, is the only preserved railway structure of its kind in Lower Saxony.Originally built with two tracks, the local area has only been operated with one track since 1991 and currently serves mainly for local passenger transport.

Great old viaduct at the foot of the Greener Burg. At the top, the train still runs between Kreiensen and Holzminden.
