The chapel is located on the Crapoel plateau at a crossroads of roads leading to Landsrade, Teuven, Slenaken, and Beutenaken (Grote Bosweg through the Groote Bosch).
The chapel was founded around 1715 by Jan de Ney.
During the French Revolution, the chapel was used as a secret church.
The current chapel was built in the second half of the 19th century, using building materials from the previous chapels.
On December 16, 1996, the chapel was registered as a national monument.
