On the left bank of the stream, opposite the Greßelmühle, there is one of the numerous meadows of checkerboard flowers in Sinngrund. In April / May the filigree signs of spring offer an impressive natural spectacle here.

Checkered flower blossom in the Sinngrund - The symbolic plant of the Sinngrund is the checkered flower (Fritillaria meleagris), also known as the checkered flower or lapwing egg. It is a plant species from the lily family (Liliaceae). During flowering - usually in late April - early May. A huge, violet sea of blossoms fills the Sinnaue, where nature in the Sinngrund slowly dresses in delicate spring green. In Germany, the Sinngrund is home to the largest contiguous occurrence in the wet meadows of the two adjacent nature reserves "Sinngrund" near Obersinn and "Sinnwiesen" from Altengronau. The lily plant thrives particularly well on the Sinn, a tributary of the Franconian Saale, with its regular flooding good and rich.
