Henk Vijn carved in stone
Under false pretenses he was lured to the mill De Adriaan. Henk Vijn was to reveal a façade because his mill had become second in the choice of the most beautiful building. As soon as the canvas fell, he revealed his own head on the gable stone. This initiative was kept secret until the last moment. The initiative was taken over by Martin Busker, chairman of Stichting Gevelsigns of the Haerlem association. Vijn had already been eligible for a façade stone, as he is committed to Haarlem.
In his old days, Vijn is now 80, he is unflappable, he reveals at the revelation. Because, he has found that the community wanted to repel the management of the mills and left to the market.
"The mill is a gift from the Burgerij to Haarlem, which is a tourist attraction and therefore vital to the city. You can not make an office out of it? We will have to defend the mill.
