Where the current church stands, there used to be a half-timbered church built between 1664 and 1666. This was, however, demolished in 1903. The first church building in Rosengarten fell victim to the Thirty Years' War. The half-timbered building erected as a successor between 1664 and 1866 stood on a slight rise on the edge of the estate park until it was demolished in 1903. The landowner and church patron Karl Eduard Hugo Rudolf Schulz (1854-1904) had today's church built.
