Hohenneuffen is always worth a visit – no question about it. Now, about the journey there: The gravel at the parking lot is a bit rough, but the cobblestones, especially combined with the approximately 18-20% gradient, are quite something.

The climb is a fun, short challenge, but the descent is a bit tricky. I'm actually used to cobblestones – even with similarly steep inclines – but here, even in dry conditions, I had the feeling that the front wheel was going to slip out or get stuck in the gaps at any second – and that was with 38mm slicks at 2 bar!

Let's just say: The (unofficial) signs repeatedly asking you to dismount are definitely there for a reason. Of course, these rules only apply to casual cyclists and not to world-class athletes who have their bikes under control, which is why dismounting is obviously out of the question 😉 Just make sure you don't crash 🤫

On sunny weekends, especially in summer and autumn, you can expect a lot of recreational traffic here (particularly families with strollers and small children) – so be careful! Occasionally, cars belonging to residents near the castle also drive there.
