The lake on the island of Cres is a natural phenomenon in the karst area. It most likely owes the name Vransko Lake to the village of Vrana, from which there is a wonderful view. However, the local population simply calls it “Jezero” (lake). It is considered to be the deepest lake in Eastern Europe.
