Meligalas is a town in the prefecture of Messenia. It is located in the region of Ano Messinia and is the largest commercial and agricultural center of the region. Built on the hill of Profitis Ilias, on the left bank of Pamisos river, in a fertile valley. The etymology of the word "Meligalas" probably comes from the word "meligalas", a Byzantine drink with honey and milk. Most of the houses in the village are made of stone. It is connected by car roads with Kalamata, Megalopolis and the areas of North Messinia.
